The work is done for you. That’s the beauty of the Dig. I personally scour a hit list of favorite web boutiques (that continues to grow every day) to find my favorites, edited down to something simple and ‘shoppable.’ I dig, we all shop.
Allow me to get crystal clear on this one, I’m not showing you edits for the sake of looking at pretty things that are attached to unrealistic price-points. It’s all relative, but at the end of the day, this Dig is really a shopping list. If it gets on the list, it is a pick I would buy, and most likely will buy (have I mentioned how long this running list is?) for myself. Hence the ‘Discuss’ part of the equation where I figure out if it is a keeper & share the feedback with the readers. Enjoy this week’s latest picks:

Like I said, I’m constantly digging around out there. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it. It’s probably for the best that it’s the fashion industry vet who spends her daytime hours all over the web marketing product and researching trends. That would be me, ah hem, just to clarify. Every day my eyes cover a ridiculous amount of virtual ground and inevitably. I find my own fashion favorites that go straight onto my shopping list. These are products that I can easily see finding a home in my at-home boutique, a.k.a. closet.
It’s not just about accumulation though. Each piece I decide to add to my closet will tell a story. You know you have dresses that bring back memories, platform pumps that could tell a thousand stories of their own, and jackets that have made there way into some life-changing boardroom moments. It’s not just about buying to buy. It’s about appreciating what you’ve got, and eventually, giving back.
At SBF we’re working on that part, the ‘giving back,’ part. It’s the incremental part of the shopping equation where you are able to, ‘shop it forward,’ so to say. Right now we’re in the midst of finding a few organizations to align with, that we feel promote self esteem and a positive self image for women with the most integrity. Once we’ve nailed these spots down, we will set up a way for everyone to both get (shop) and give (donate/volunteer, etc). Just a heads up to what is in the works.
Fashion is an amazing thing, it can change a person in an instant, and inspires millions each day. It is, after all, the land I have called home for over a decade. But with that experience under my belt, I’ve grown to see that the fashion industry/retail is not necessarily known for it’s high level of philanthropy. We at SBF plan on changing that. More to come…
