Matthew Williamson’s Geometric Cuff + Belief Systems:

This is a simple one. The best things in life usually are as far as I’m concerned (she writes with a massive, geometrically-glammed-up statement cuff pictured above). In the end, if you believe you can, you will. Don’t go too far down the rabbit hole with this. Again, it’s about simplicity, not willing yourself into thinking you can be a shape-shifter (even though that would be pretty damn cool).
Everyone I know, including myself, had a ‘blankey’ or stuffed animal when they were little. Mine was appropriately named, ‘Lovey.’ I loved Lovey to near death, as seen by the patches sewn covering the pilled, faded, lemony-yellow blanket in the shape of a bear that currently lives on the top shelf of my closet.
Wherever I went, Lovey went. Eventually, I got to the age where bringing Lovey along for the ride was no longer deemed ‘cool.’ You don’t want to be the new kid at school (a title I held many times) with a beat-up, yellow blankey by your side all day. The ‘new kid’ title was enough of a battle without the rest of the sixth grade diagnosing you with Peter-Pan syndrome. So, Lovey stayed at home, but what did come with me were my jackets, earrings, shoes, etc.
Sometimes, along with the belief that we ‘can’ do something, it never hurts to have a little ‘backup.’ Lovey was out, but the concept lived on in the clothes I’d put on my back and the accessories that would cover my arms, etc.
This geometric crystal cuff from Matthew Williamson is a present-day Lovey. You put this cuff on, and outside a quick Wonder Woman impression (you know you’d be dying to make the arms movements, don’t lie), you’re not only safe, your secure, and you’ve got a statement piece that will get any conversation started.
The trick here is, you don’t hide behind the cuff. It would be easy with the all-glammed-up embellishment going on. When I held Lovey in my arms, I knew I could do anything. I guess what I’m saying is, when you put on this cuff, that jacket you just bought, those platform pumps, or whatever it is you adore in your closet, your essentially donning your all-grows-up, and far more fashion-forward version, of a blankey. It’s not armor, you don’t need it to hide behind, you OWN it. It becomes a part of you, and is that added ‘oomph,’ that sometimes, just sometimes, we all need to get to the other side of the fence when it comes to believing in what we’re capable of accomplishing and creating in this world. So, cuff up people.
