Sure, I know it’s record breaking temperature time across much of the country, and yes, the last thing I know I can personally fathom each morning as I step out into the rainforest-esque humidity that has me struggling to breathe in the soupy, triple-digit air, is layering, but there’s always hope. Oh, and seasons, there are always seasons.
Fall is upon us, I’m willing it to come with this post as a matter of fact. The topic being one of my all-time favorite fashion initiators into the autumnal season of changing leaves and apple cider, cords, aka corduroy pants. Cue: Anthropologie’s Rust-Colored Cords and how to wear them:
1. ASOS Ponti Deep Lapel Blazer- $112.05 (www.us.asos.com) | 2. James Perse Cotton Tee- $50 (www.net-a-porter.com) | 3. Anthropologie’s Upper Reaches Rust Cords- $118 (www.anthropologie.com) | 4. Free People ‘Naia’ Heel- was $198, now $158 (www.freepeople.com) | 5. MARC by Marc Jacobs ‘Panthera’ Scarf- $180 (www.net-a-porter.com) | 6. Belle Noel Glam Rock Ring- was $75, now $45 (www.bloomingdales.com)
Keep this look casual by omitting the deep lapel blazer, or keep it on and everything stays clean and streamlined. The cotton tee is a given, but what makes it interesting is the label. You won’t hear me say that often. James Perse, however, is a name that equates to luxurious (yet affordable) basics. We’re not talking disposable. You can live in these and they’ll last you, so a few extra bucks will be worth it. ‘Nuff said.
The corduroy pants are the integral part of this ensemble, and Anthropolgie hits the nail on the head with the rusty, deep red color. It’s rich, can be taken super casual, but also plays with almost any other color you can throw at it.
The Free People ‘Naia’ heels are brilliant. They’re original, woven, and ridiculously flattering with the platform and stacked heel. Finally, bring it all into focus with a light layered scarf from MARC by Marc Jacobs, and a spikey, ‘don’t mess with me, or do, but you’ve been warned’ statement ring from Belle Noel. It’s a little glam to add to this otherwise, low-key yet pulled together boho take on a classic cord.
