Daily Pick: Anthropologie’s Scoopneck Tee

I’m a massive fan of Anthropologie for so many reasons, but mainly, because they bring fashion forward pieces with original details out every season effortless (to the eye of the consumer that is). Whenever I buy something from them, I get comments on it. Without fail.

Usually I go for the tops simply because they turn into emotional, impulse buys. This scoopneck tee with rosette covered gathering right at the waist is the perfect example of that.

The wide scoopneck is so chic it’s ridiculous. It shows off, what I believe to be one of the best parts of the female form, the decollete (neckline…mind you I”m sure straight men everywhere would disagree but they aren’t reading this so moving on). The cap sleeves are demure and understated (not always a good fit for women who have issues with their arms, just a heads up) and the waistline details actually cinch things in resulting in a flattering fit.

Enough on the top, how does one wear this you ask? Well, I worked it into a layered look since it’s still a little chilly out for now. This top has tons of options though. For now, let’s get started with just one of several:

First, and you may not have seen this coming, or you think I’m insane for doing this (either way, at least I got a reaction) I’m layering the scoopneck tee over a sheer, longsleeve crewneck tee. It’s a dark, ‘carbon’ grey that is super lightweight so it works well for situations like this. Key thing to note here is you’re definitely going to want to hand wash this one. At $49 from $70, it’s a great basic to have around.

Next, I’m sticking with the smoky theme here and going with a distressed pair of skinny, sandblasted blue/grey jeans. These skinnies from Roxy (only $54.50 plus free shipping) take the first two classic pieces and rough them up a little. The fabrication is ’slub denim,’ which basically means they’re soft and won’t cut off circulation below your waist. Always a plus right?

Time for the shoes…These black ‘Intyce’ boots from Steve Madden have definitely made a few cameos on this site, and for good reason. I love the flat boot with this look because again, it takes a sweet top and toughens it up with a more utilitarian bottom. I wear these all the time with leggings, under jeans, over jeans, etc. Seriously, I’ve moved apartments in these boots with ease. That’s saying something. The leather on the upper part is waxy which I like, keeps things looking a little worn-in. The buckle detail is subtle and actually functional (go figure). And finally, the tiny wedge makes them really comfortable.

Polish this scooneck tee look off with something that goes back into the realm of glam via this peacock ring from House of Harlow ($46). Nicole Ritchie has definitely found a niche for herself and I couldn’t be happier she’s moved on from reality TV into jewelry. Would I normally go for a peacock ring? No. But this has an understated vintage feel that works well back to the embellishment going on in the top portion of the ensemble.

Fin.
