Dolce Vita directly translates to the words, the ‘good life.’ Let’s just say, it’s a fitting brand name for what the company continues to bring out each season.
It all began in 2001 with each shoe being handmade. Obviously, with the additional exposure and the fact that you can find them amongst the largest retailers out there, a lot of this is now done by a machine, but honestly, you still get so much fashion for your buck with this line. Why they are just now getting onto my radar (ok, so within the past year or so) is a mystery to me.
Enough gushing, the proof is in the following drool-worthy shoe. This ‘April’ platform pump is a cleaner take on an old-school platform ($170.00 @ bloomingdales.com). The nude pump, suede or not, is all over the place, and you’re about to find out why…
Here’s a closer look:

Nude pumps: The best part about neutrals is that they play well with other colors on the fashion playground. Translation, their effortlessly versatile. Translation, round two, you’ll be able to wear them with practically anything you can pull out of your closet, brown, black, purple, red, etc. Go to town.
Now, how to wear these nude platform pumps:
I’ve had my eye on this Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Deco Paisley’ dress for awhile now, just waiting for the right reason to bite the bullet. If you’ve read anything on sbf.com, you’ll know I’m a fan of ruffles. This dress is essentially ruffles on crack. It’s a runway dress and the attention to detail here is ridiculous.
The vertical seaming along the torso elongates and adds structure to the (cotton) fabric, while pleating at the shoulders combines with a ruffled bib-front that is undeniably feminine. Top this all off with the tonal paisley print and a couple of ruffles at the hem for good measure (which, aka, accentuates the right assets, pun intended) and you’re done.
You can wear this dress alone, or cover up with a lightweight, open-front cardigan like this one from Splendid (quickly becoming a core name in my shopping portfolio for basics). The heather grey sticks with the neutral theme that’s going on. That said, snore. Time for a pop of color. On that note…
A skinny, burgundy, patent belt cinches in the waist and emphasizes the feminine curves (way way better than trying to cover yourself up with boxy tops or, god forbid, elastic waistbands). The burgundy is subtle and chic color pairing back perfectly with the the ivory, nude canvas of the dress and pump.
Bag lady time. This Steven by Steve Madden ‘Snake Charmer’ messenger bag is what caught my eye for this look. A. I am a huge fan of a messenger bag (look! no hands!), and B. the muddled berry colors going on here are practically edible. I’m usually not a fan of snake prints, but it stays toned down amongst all the color. Wear it on the shoulder, under the arm, or across the body. The mix of ladylike and utilitarian is what I’m crazy about here.
Finally, we need some arm candy. This shell cuff bracelet from Nordstrom is on-point. Wiry details work well back to the crisp, mother of pearl oval stone. The intricate gold detail, along with a substantial stone, make this cuff a perfect piece to complete the look.
