Allow me to introduce Bing Bang, a line described by designer Anna Sheffield as, “haute-costume jewelry.” This woman has done it all from welder to blacksmith, and naturally, costume designer. Naturally. So her eclectic background lends itself, and actually is easily seen in her work.
I have a couple of favorites that I found while digging around the ‘www’ as my friend’s grandmother lovingly calls it. Cracks me up everytime. All right, back to the jewelry at hand, well technically, on hand…(after the montage, click the images to shop)

The first up-close cameo goes to the Bastille Iron Work Ring. The ring shows very clearly why Sheffield’s Bing Bang is on my list of designers I am dying to Introduce to more fashion enthusiasts. This woman makes originals and there’s a lot of ‘oomph’ to each pieces she churns out. I love the detail and the weight that goes with the ring that really, if you didn’t know it, closely resembles an abstract sculpture you’d see in the center floor of a museum.

Next comes a little Eye Fob Necklace. I’ve never been drawn towards an evil eye like some people, but this chain link necklace caught my eye. the Links are substantial, and clean looking, almost utilitarian. The charm adds a detailed element as well as a small, subtle pop of color back to an overall bold statement necklace. There’s a solid juxtaposition of strong and delicate on this necklace, and it seems to be a theme throughout her collections…mind you, the scales leans more towards the strong part of that equation.

I love ‘the find,’ when it comes to fashion and shopping. It’s one reason I started the ‘Introducing’ section on SBF. The second reason was because I love to see smaller, usually independent, labels creating product with massive creativity and integrity. The final reason is, I feel these creations deserve to be celebrated and shared. One, two, three, done.
