Breeze-Scattered Style.

A Purple Silk Maxi-Skirt & How to Wear It:

I ran across this image from tumblr the other day. It instantly had me envisioning an ensemble made to move in a breeze, similar to how the seeds of the dandelion plant scatter across an open field to find new homes and start new dandelion lives. I know, relatively deep and very nature-girl, but I’m going with it. It’s also the perfect excuse to feature the silk crepe, violet purple-soaked maxi-skirt from Diane von Furstenberg.

Before I dive in head first to the look built around this super saturated skirt, here’s a look at the image that started it all…

How to Wear the Skirt:

1. Diane von Furstenberg Purple ‘Lily’ Silk Crepe Skirt- $210 (www.net-a-porter.com) 2. T by Alexander Wang Grey Variegated Rib Tank Top– $96 (www.lagarconne.com) 3. Elizabeth and James ‘Hazel’ Lizard-Effect Leather Wedge Sandal– $295 (www.net-a-porter.com) 4. Anna Beck ‘Sulawesi’ Gold Chandelier Earrings– $315 (www.couturecandy.com) 5. Orelia Double Row Stretch Bracelet With Multi Disc Detailing– $21.52 (www.asos.com) 6. ASOS ‘Love’ Sovereign Style Ring– $10.76 from $14.34 (www.asos.com)

I’m picturing everything loosely lifted away from the body by the breeze on this ensemble. To elaborate on my little fashion visualization, I’ll give you the ‘where’ behind the ‘what.’ Along with the image of the little dandy, I’m seeing this skirt look worn strolling (note the term stroll; no power walking, think ‘glacial’ in terms of pace) along a pier, maybe taking a quick moment to stare out at the endless expanse that is the Pacific, and that’s when the wind starts to play with the skirt, the tank, the gold-disc bracelet, the earrings, all of it.

That’s when the wind, that familiar, and always comforting salt-soaked breeze, has it’s way with your ensemble.

Overall, it’s a look meant to be worn out and about. The maxi-skirt pops back to a neutral tank, and the wedges will keep you on-trend while your left foot moves in front of your right. Usually I’ll leave it up to the jewelry to finish off a look, but this one just isn’t complete without the breeze component. So, go get your face in the sun, and let the wind bring it all together.

This bright, super-saturated silk crepe skirt is just one option when it comes to the bottom half of the fashion equation. See more stories behind my favorite skirts, pants, jeans, shorts, etc. and how to wear them.
