The What:

The How:

1. DIANE von FURSTENBERG “Gyls” Dress- $165.60 from $345 (www.bloomingdales.com)  | 2. Oryany ‘Knight’ Tote- $279.90 from $425 (www.nordstrom.com) | 3. J. Crew Crystal Confetti Necklace- $39.99 from $88 (www.jcrew.com) | 4. Gorjana ‘Taner’ Three Bar Bracelet- $90 (www.endless.com) | 5. Rosegold ‘Layla’ Sandal- $79.99 from $159 (www.piperlime.gap.com)

The Setting:

I know there’s some really good people watching to be had in this red number from Diane von Furstenberg. And yes, with that bold of a color, you’ll get looks as well. Why not return the favor huh?

I’m wearing this dress out during the day, maybe a coffee break amidst the crazy hustle and bustle of it all. You know, caffeine, always calming? Wait…Moving on, it’s time to park it on a bench nearby. Cue said bench:

When things get hectic or stressful, I have this lovely tendency to retreat inward into the swirling ‘hypotheticals’ running through my mind. What follows next, like clock-work, is that ever-so comforting (sarcasm) feeling of disconnect. This is the perfect time to get out of my head and back into my body. It’s a slowing down if you will. It’s perfect park bench material; A moment in the day when I can get back to me via an open awareness of  everything going on around me.  So zen of me, I know…working on it. Like I said, it’s a break, and in my hand you’ll usually find this:

Mmmmmm, yum. I am mobile in this scenario, so picture this rich, creamy, dark iced coffee (thinking Columbian) in an eco-friendly (so many trips to California, it rubs off on you) cup.

On to what I’m hearing, now that all the hoopla and chatter is cleared out from in-between my ears:

The Song:

David Gray, “January Rain.” Listen.

Just another moment of another day, except by slowing down in this gorgeous red dress from DVF, I’m not only owning the look, I’m owning this small place in time, my moment.

See more of my favorites in fashion, plus let’s not forget the best part, get a little guidance when it comes to how to wear them. You’ve got to love when the inspiration is laying right there for you no?
