Skinny Pants from J. Brand & How to Wear Them:
J Brand’s black sateen skinny pants inspired this one. It’s starting to cool off out there and I’m rushing fall like it’s my day job. Could have something to do with the recent run of triple digit temps below the Mason Dixon line.
Speaking of layers, the below look was pulled together beginning with the solid style foundation of the J Brand skinny pants. From there, the ‘how-to-wear-it‘ fashion challenge was quickly solved with some key pieces…

Why I love the look? Simple, it’s a subtle, clean take that comes together in a sophisticated way.
I’ll start it off with the Ash ‘Glen’ platform peep-toe booties. These mini-me boots have some serious detail going on, but the washed charcoal grey keeps them from going over the edge on trend. Don’t let the details throw you off, just keep things balanced. Heavy detail on the shoe equals a clean rest of the fashion equation.
The Kenneth Cole mixed metal bracelet adds a little ‘oomph’ to it all and ties in well to chain hardware covering the straps on that gorgeous Madewell shoulder bag.
The rest of this ‘how-to-wear’ puzzle is completed with a retro-inspired pair of shades from Carrera (new line to me and I’m all over it) and easily topped off with a super soft, cowl neck sweater from Lutz & Patmos.
